Well what a day. Last week I ended up in A&E, this week I ended up being rescued!

Strong onshore winds on arrival meant I rigged a 6M and the wifeís PowerGlide with a smaller fin. JÖ and I launched amid confusion that soon settled down to a mild breeze (JÖ launched his F2 Ride for the first time, rigged with a 5M sail)

Both underpowered we soon realised that the wind had dropped. JÖ took the 6M, but still could not get going so we landed to discuss tactics. I then realised that the ënewí 6M prevents me rigging the 6M and 6.7M simultaneously (mismatch on the masts). Although I seriously considered the 8M, the wind started to pick up again and we decided to re-launch, but this time with me on the PowerGlide and JÖ on the trusty Phoenix.

Once back on the water, I struggled with the 5M and realised I was slightly underpowered, some good runs, but hampered by circumstance. However, JÖ. was having a storming session on the Phoenix and 6M (is it really possible to wave sail a 320 188L board? Well JÖ did!)

After a few runs we came in for a rest and to re-rig the 5M that I was using. When we re-launched, the wind had picked up again and I was flung around a bit. JÖ. managed to continue putting on a show for the crowds! I had one great run all the way across to the ëmainlandí and back again, but then got munched in the shore-break (all 1 foot of the stuff!)

Last session of the day saw me flung off in the middle of the channel that goes into the fleet. I was swept rapidly past the rocks and into the point of no return (or so I thought). Panic would have set in if I was being washed away from the shore, however I was only heading towards some ugly looking concrete pylons so I settled for wide eyed floundering! Eventually I managed to swim to the bank/shore where I was able to stand up. JÖ then came charging round the headland on foot to rescue me, thanks JÖ!

Overall it was an odd day, but good to get out in the sun and have a blast.
